What The Emesent Trimble Integration Means For Your Scan Data
- by Megan Wood
Capturing great scan data is only half the job. Getting it into the software your team uses every day is often where projects slow down. A new integration between Emesent and Trimble aims to fix that.
What's been announced
On 15th September 2026, at INTERGEO 2026, Emesent announced that its mobile SLAM scanners now integrate directly with Trimble Connect and Trimble Business Center.
SLAM (Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping) lets a scanner work out where it is while it maps its surroundings. That means it can capture accurate 3D data on the move, even indoors, underground or anywhere GPS is unreliable. The integration covers two Emesent scanners:
- Emesent Hovermap ST-X, a versatile LiDAR mapping system that can be mounted on a drone, carried by hand or fitted to a vehicle
- Emesent GX1, a mobile SLAM scanner with integrated RTK for georeferencing at the point of capture
How the Emesent Trimble integration works
Raw scan data goes into Emesent Aura Cloud, Emesent's processing platform, which generates georeferenced point clouds. A point cloud is a 3D model made up of millions of measured points, and georeferenced means each point is tied to real-world coordinates.
Those point clouds then flow straight into Trimble Connect and Trimble Business Center. There are no manual exports and no file conversions to work around. From Trimble Connect, the data can also be used in tools such as Tekla Structures and Trimble SketchUp.
Emesent describes it as a "capture, connect and create" pipeline.
Why it matters
For survey, engineering and construction teams, the benefits are practical:
- Less time spent exporting, converting and moving files between platforms
- Fewer chances for errors or version confusion when data is handed between teams
- Faster turnaround from site capture to usable deliverables
- Easier collaboration, with everyone working from the same data in Trimble Connect
It's especially useful for BIM (Building Information Modelling) models, as-built surveys and digital twins, where accurate spatial data needs to move quickly from the field to the design team.
Who will benefit
If your organisation already works in Trimble software, this makes SLAM scanning much easier to adopt. Teams in surveying, construction, infrastructure inspection, mining and architecture can now add mobile and drone-based capture without changing their existing workflows.
Coptrz supplies both the Hovermap ST-X and the GX1, along with Hovermap training, so teams can get the hardware and the skills in place to make the most of the new workflow.
FAQs
What has Emesent integrated with Trimble?
Emesent's mobile SLAM scanners, including the Hovermap ST-X and GX1, now send data directly into Trimble Connect and Trimble Business Center.
Do I need to export files manually?
No. Data is processed in Emesent Aura Cloud and flows straight into Trimble software without manual exports.
What is SLAM scanning?
SLAM lets a scanner map its surroundings while tracking its own position, so it can capture accurate 3D data on the move, even where GPS is unreliable.
