This course provides a comprehensive overview of the use of drones in preserving and safeguarding cultural heritage sites. It covers the benefits and applications of drones in this field, along with the different types of drones and payloads available. The course delves into operation planning, safety, and compliance, including European laws related to drone usage. Participants learn data collection techniques such as thermography, photogrammetry, LiDAR, and multispectral imaging, as well as post-processing and analysis using DJI Terra and Pix4D software. A case study of a Buddhist temple in Myanmar showcases the practical application of drones in heritage conservation. The course culminates with a summary and an exam to assess participants' knowledge and proficiency.
